These were the most viral, top- trending videos on YouTube 2016

James Corden and Adele in Carpool Karaoke

A segment of late night talk show host James Corden's carpool karaoke with Adele has topped YouTube's list of top-trending, viral videos of 2016.

Since being uploaded in January, the 15-minute segment of "The Late Late Show with James Corden" featuring Adele has racked up more than 135 million views.

In addition to singing along to some of her own classic hits, Adele impressively belts out tunes from the Spice Girls and shows off her rapping chops with Nicki Minaj's "Monster."

The list of top-trending videos also includes the viral hit "Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen" by Japanese comedian Piko-Taro which owes much of its popularity to Justin Bieber who tweeted about it, as well as "What's Inside a Rattlesnake Snake."

Rankings are based on a combination of factors including the number of views, shares, comments and likes.
