Singapore Writers Festival 2016

Sign up for panel discussions, workshops and performances on everything related to the written and spoken word, featuring American writer Lionel Shriver, Hawaiian-born author Hanya Yanagihara and other literary personalities. The multilingual literary festival returns this year with a blitz of events themed around the Malay word ‘Sayang’, which comes with connotations of endearment, adoration as well as pity and loss.

Pokemon Research Exhibition

If Pokemon Go has renewed your interest for catching all the mysterious critters of the Japanese game franchise, this interactive exhibition is a must-see. Held for the first time outside of Japan, the event challenges fans to guess at the creatures that reside within their Pokeballs. You’ll also get to pose for photos with Pikachu, who will make special appearances thrice a day.

Singapore River Festival 2016

Take part in the array of events by the Singapore River, which kicks off with a tightrope opening performance by French theatre group Underclouds Cie. Other highlights include the acrobatic acts at Riverside Carnival, a silent disco at Clarke Quay, the Circular Spectacular! Street Carnival at Boat Quay as well as fitness workshops at Robertson Quay. Foodies will also get to grab yummy deals by restaurants along the riverside districts.

SCO 20th Anniversary Concert Season The Nyonya Journey

Celebrate the rich culture and heritage of Peranakans at Singapore Chinese Orchestra’s latest concert season, which features compositions by Dick Lee, Simon Kong, Chong Kee Yong and more. Take a musical journey through music inspired by generations of Peranakan families, as well as fun pieces themed around Nyonya kueh and other traditional dishes.

Aesop’s Fables: The Town Mouse & the Country Mouse

Cultivate your child’s love for theatre at this adaptation of the classic fable, which is catered to kids aged three and up. The story tells the journey of two very different mice, who overcome their differences while learning about the importance of friendship and kindness. The little ones are encouraged to sing along and dance to the tunes performed on stage by British children’s theatre group Pied Piper Theatre Co.

The Zouk Run

The Urgent Run Singapore 2016

Sign up for this 5km-long fun run, which helps raise funds for sanitation projects worldwide while injecting a good dose of tongue-in-cheek toilet humour. Each runner will receive a t-shirt, bib, finisher medal and other goodies, plus a chance to win a prize from the event’s lucky draw. There’s also a ‘crappy dress’ competition, to inspire participants to dress up for the theme while racing (or walking) to the finish line.

34th Singapore River Regatta

Cheer on more than 90 boating teams as they paddle their way to the finish line at this water sport event. This year marks the 34th edition of this annual race, which is co-organised by Singapore Dragon Boat Association (SDBA), Civil Service Club (CSC) and the People’s Association (PA) Water-Venture.

5-Eleven with Love Cubic

Get up-close and personal with the K-pop stars of Love Cubic, who will be in Singapore for the first time ever. The girls of the idol group (Shinhye, Sarang, Mint and Ayoung) will perform their 1st single ‘Gang Tae Gong’, while launching their 2nd single during the event.
