Warner Bros International Television Production Set To Hire Long-Serving BBC Studios Exec Andre Renaud

EXCLUSIVE: Long-serving BBC Studios formats exec Andre Renaud is jumping over to Warner Bros International Television Production (WBITVP).

We can reveal the industry veteran is joining Warner Bros Discovery’s London-based international team in November as Global VP of Finished and Format Sales and Revenue Generation.

More from Deadline

Based in the UK, he’ll report to Andrew Zein, WBITVP’s Executive VP, Creative, Format Development and Sales. Duties will include overseeing the teams that sell formats and unscripted finished tape programs such as The Bachelor, First Dates, The Repair Shop and Glow Up, along with doc series D Day: The Unheard Tapes, Paris Hilton reality show Paris in Love and Nadiya Hussain cooking shows including Nadiya’s Simple Spices.

His hire brings to an end a seven-year run at the BBC’s commercial division, where he was most recently SVP, Global Format Sales and also held roles such as VP, Content Sales for Italy and Iberia. Notable deals have included licensing Dancing with the Stars into its 60th territory, Mongolia; The Great Bake Off into its 40th, Algeria; Doctor Foster as a scripted format in the Philippines, Slovakia and Japan; and The 1% Club into twelve countries, including Mexico, Greece and Ukraine.

He also spent two years on BBC Studios’ Diversity & Inclusion Council and is Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Boundless Theatre in the UK. Prior to the BBC, Renaud spent 13 years at ITV Studios overseeing content and formats sales in various parts of EMEA and format production partnerships.

BBC Studios is already seeking his replacement, who will operate across the Global Entertainment division’s teams in the UK, U.S., Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Nordics, South Africa and India, and with its formats licensing team.

“André is one of the most high-profile and well-respected senior executives in the industry, so we are really looking forward to having him join our team,” said Zein. “He has a terrific track record, has worked with some of the biggest programme brands in the business and balances the commercial aspects of a senior sales role with the creativity required to really make formats fly.

“In addition, his passion for developing people will prove a real asset as he works alongside me to lead and evolve our wider team and ensure it continues to adapt to challenges and thrive in our rapidly changing world.”

“It’s a privilege to be joining WBITVP to help bring its world-class catalogue of scripted and unscripted formats to audiences around the world, added Renaud. “The opportunity to collaborate with its production teams, as well as third-party producers and broadcasters, is truly exciting, and I’m eager to not only maintain the appeal of iconic brands like The Bachelor but also to expand their reach to connect with new global fans and audiences. I look forward to working with the sales and production teams to deliver exceptional results for our partners and customers, continuing to showcase the great content for which WBITVP is known.”

Renaud’s move is the latest senior exec change in the international sales biz as we zoom towards Mipcom Cannes in October. Deadline has in recent weeks revealed the departures of Angela Neillis and Max Bolenius from Fremantle, while former Keshet International exec Limor Gott-Rogen joined 5XMedia in a producer/partner post. WBITVP is also searching for a Head of Format Sales in Australia.
