US stocks pause from post-election rally
Wall Street stocks dipped in opening trading Wednesday, a pause in the post-election rally sparked by expectations of pro-growth polices from Washington.
Five minutes into trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was off just 0.1 percent at 19,238.47, retreating a bit from Tuesday's fresh record.
The broad-based S&P 500 also shed 0.1 percent to 2,210.47, as did the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index which was at 5,326.08.
"Just about every dip has been bought since election day with visions of tax cuts and stronger economic growth in 2017 dancing in traders' heads," said Briefing.com analyst Patrick O'Hare.
