US Olympic Gold Medalists Get $37.5K, But These 15 Countries Pay Six Figures
Along with all the well-deserved glory, winning an Olympic gold medal often comes with a hefty cash payout. This year, American gold medal winners will receive a $37,500 bonus courtesy of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, Forbes reported.
While that’s a sum most Americans would be thrilled to pocket, it pales in comparison to the six-figure bonuses other countries award their athletes for taking home the top prize.
Here’s a look at 15 countries and territories that award their gold medal winners $100,000 or more — with the top place offering an astounding $768,000.
