Yahoo Finance Uriel Diaz peels back the curtain on ‘Disneybounding’ and his TikTok fame
Uriel Diaz is a queer, Latinx “Disneybounder” who’s bringing pride and creativity to this online community of stylish collectors.
For the uninitiated, Disneybounding marries cosplaying with modern fashion. Far from costumes, Disneybounders instead rock chic outfits that subtly nod to their favorite Disney characters. These looks can be worn every day but just so happen to have a bit of Disney flavor.
“I always say this,” Diaz tells In The Know. “Disney was like the great American dream.”
Diaz has 163,000 followers on TikTok and over 13,000 on Instagram. He posts outfits inspired by The Lion King’s Scar, Mickey Mouse in Fantasia and naturally, his Disney pride look is a must-see. Also a collector, his hoard of Disney backpacks is enviable.
He credits his parents, who are immigrants from Mexico, with instilling in him a love of Disney.

“It was just set up for me to fall in love with Disney,” Diaz says. “Soon as I was born, they got me a puppy. They named it Mickey Mouse — everything in my crib was Micky Mouse.”
Disneybounding was a pretty natural fit for Diaz, who didn’t stop believing in the magic of the mouse as he got older.
“I have always had Disney T-shirts. I try to dress up whenever I would go out to the club and stuff. I would be wearing my cool Mickey Mouse shirt with a blazer or whatever. But when I discovered Disney bounding on Instagram, I was like, ‘What is this? This is cool. I need to do this. I need to try this.'”
While being “extra” has always been in Diaz’s wheelhouse, now he gets to share that extraness with an audience who embraces it full stop.
“Man, does it make me so happy to hear, ‘My daughter loves watching your TikToks, my son loves watching your TikToks,'” he admits. “My ultimate thing that would make me the happiest to know is that I am representation for some little kid.”
Not too long ago, when Diaz was a kid, there weren’t many people like him visible in media.
“Like me, I would never see anybody like me that has nails, that’s Brown, that’s queer, that loves Disney, that’s like, fully themselves,” Diaz says. “I needed somebody to be that for me too, you know? I’m glad I could be that for anybody. Even if it was just one person.”
