(Reuters) -British homebuilder Persimmon said on Wednesday that Andrew Duxbury has been appointed as its next chief financial officer, with his starting date to be confirmed in due course.

Duxbury will join from construction firm Galliford Try where he has worked as group finance director since March 2019.

"Andrew has extensive experience as a finance director in the construction and housebuilding industry, which will be an invaluable asset to Persimmon," Chairman Roger Devlin said in a statement.

The CFO role at Persimmon had been lying vacant since Sept. 1 after the previous finance boss Jason Windsor left to join abrdn in the same position.

Windsor left after serving as CFO for just over a year, during which the homebuilder had slashed its dividend payment by 75% in tune with its new capital allocation policy amid intense slowdown worries in the sector.

In August, Persimmon was moved from the blue-chip FTSE 100 index to the midcap FTSE 250 category, becoming a casualty of the housing market turmoil.
