UEM Sunrise Contributes To Covid-19 Relief Support

UEM Sunrise Contributes To Covid-19 Relief Support

As the Country faces the unprecedented effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, UEM Sunrise Berhad (“UEM Sunrise” or the “Company”), one of Malaysia’s leading property developers has contributed to the front line workers as well as families who are most affected by the Extended Movement Control Order.

UEM Sunrise embarked on a concerted and coordinated effort, roping in NGOs, a public hospital as well as the local council in Johor in a multi-prong initiative in ensuring the health and safety of our front line workers as well as the welfare of Company’s closest communities in Iskandar Puteri.

The Company donated to the Malaysian Relief Agency in Kuala Lumpur for the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) and facemasks for healthcare front liners based in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. The items were distributed at Hospital Sungai Buloh.

Another contribution was made to the Malaysia Red Crescent Society in Johor to purchase similar personal protective equipment (PPE) and other medical equipment. The items were then channelled to Hospital Sultanah Aminah in Johor Bahru, Fire and Rescue Department in Skudai and other front liner workers affiliated with the Malaysia Red Crescent Society in Johor.

UEM Sunrise together with its collaborative partners, Melati Ehsan Group and Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad also funded Hospital Kuala Lumpur in their purchase of a ventilator machine.

“We understand that there is a shortage of medical equipment and protective gears for the front liners and the much-needed ventilator machines for patients. Hence, to extend immediate assistance we worked with two NGOs, Malaysia Relief Agency and Malaysia Red Crescent Society of Johor, and Hospital Kuala Lumpur as we actively support these organisations by contributing monetary assistance in the battle against COVID-19. Though we are hampered physically by the Movement Control Order (MCO), the team is happy to assist wherever we can in cooperation with our collaborative partners”, said Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib, Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of UEM Sunrise.

Additionally, UEM Sunrise together with Majlis Bandaraya Iskandar Puteri and the Johor Bahru district office, purchased and distributed groceries to 300 families in Johor affected by the extended MCO.

“As a responsible corporate citizen and guided by the values of UEM Sunrise, we will continue to do our best to support the affected communities in these difficult times. We are committed to the health and safety of the public and our healthcare workers. As the COVID-19 crisis progresses, UEM Sunrise will continue to align its corporate social responsibility outreach based on evolving needs.”

“We would like to record our heartfelt thanks to each and everyone impacted by or dealing with COVID-19. We sincerely applaud the sacrifices of the front liners, NGOs and many unsung heroes who have been working around the clock in making sure that Malaysians stay safe during this very challenging time. It is our hope that Malaysians will come together in this time of adversity and play our part by being responsible citizens and adhering to the MCO restrictions”, added Anwar.
