Uber's new carpooling service to hit the streets on July 1

Fares are around 25 cents cheaper.

Uber will launch its uberPOOL ride-sharing service in Singapore on July 1, a move that will allow drivers to pick up and drop off multiple riders going in the same direction.

The company said that the service will provide more riders with more trips and create greater efficiency on the road by matching riders headed in the same direction.

uberPOOL fares are around 25 cents cheaper than its normal service, uberX.

The service has a 2-minute waiting policy for riders. The maximum number of riders that a driver can take in a single pickup is two people, and riders are not allowed to change or add destinations in the middle of the journey.
