U.S. Stock Futures Signal Lower Open

U.S. stock index futures pointed to a slightly lower open on Wall Street Wednesday.

The S&P 500 Futures edged a point lower to 1873.00 points while the Nasdaq Futures were off 3.70 points at 3581.30 points.

Investors awaited new home sales data due at 10.00 a.m. Eastern, the sole entry in Wednesday's data calendar.

It’s another big day for earnings with Apple, Facebook, Zynga, Boeing, Texas Instruments, TD Ameritrade, Qualcomm, and Safeway among a host of companies due to report their results.

A number of stocks were active in pre-market trading with Facebook up almost a percent and Boeing up 2%. Apple edged 0.1% lower

AT&T was down 2.2% in reaction to results reported after the closing bell Tuesday while Yum! Brands gained 2%.

Earlier today, Chinese markets ended lower, bucking the regional trend after data showed the country’s manufacturing sector contracted for the fourth straight month. European markets also moved lower after a weak open.
