KWINANA BEACH, Australia (AP) _ Tronox Ltd. (TROX) on Wednesday reported second-quarter profit of $36 million.

On a per-share basis, the Kwinana Beach, Australia-based company said it had net income of 29 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 31 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 25 cents per share.

The producer of titanium ore and titanium dioxide posted revenue of $492 million in the period.

Tronox shares have dropped slightly more than 9 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $18.58, a decline of 5.5 percent in the last 12 months.
