Tragic: 29-year-old man finds 'painless' marks on his body; dies of rare cancer

A man has died from a rare form of cancer after visiting doctors with painless, dark lesions on his skin.

The 29-year-old Brazilian man visited doctors telling them he had the lesions for six months, according to Brazil’s National Cancer Institute in the New England Journal of Medicine.

The man had no symptoms such as weight loss or night sweats, but the lesions were found on his face, trunk, back and limbs.

Doctors determined he had blastic plasmacytoid dendritic-cell neoplasm – a rare form of cancer which commonly shows with skin lesions.

It affects blood and bone marrow.

He was treated with dexamethasone, a type of anti-inflammatory used during chemotherapy, and doctors noted the lesions disappeared.

More treatment with other drugs resulted in “complete remission”, researchers wrote.

Unfortunately, he relapsed after being disease-free for six months and further treatment didn’t work.

He died 27 months after the initial diagnosis.
