Tenneco: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) _ Tenneco Inc. (TEN) on Thursday reported a loss of $293 million in its fourth quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Lake Forest, Illinois-based company said it had a loss of $3.62. Earnings, adjusted for asset impairment costs and non-recurring costs, came to 28 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 42 cents per share.

The auto parts maker posted revenue of $4.14 billion in the period, which topped Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.99 billion.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $314 million, or $3.88 per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $17.45 billion.

For the current quarter ending in April, Tenneco said it expects revenue in the range of $3.95 billion to $4.15 billion.

The company expects full-year revenue in the range of $16.7 billion to $17.1 billion.

Tenneco shares have dropped 29% since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 74% in the last 12 months.
