Tecnológico de Monterrey has moved up 3 places in the rankings of top universities for entrepreneurship. In 6 years, it has gone from 23rd to 5th place in "The Princeton Review: Top Undergraduate Schools for Entrepreneurship Ranking 2021," published by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine.
These ranking organizations have published the results of their fifteenth annual survey with the names of the top 50 schools for taking entrepreneurial programs at Undergraduate and Graduate levels. Tecnológico de Monterrey is the only university outside the United States to be ranked in this survey.
Since 2016, the Institution has maintained its ranking in the top 25 places, being placed 23rd in the first year, then 17th, then 14th. In 2019, it entered the top 10, and it was placed 8th in 2020.
This year, it was placed at number 5 for Undergraduate level, alongside institutions such as University of Houston, Babson College, Brigham Young University, and The University of Michigan.
"We’re so proud to have made it into this publication’s Top 5. This is without doubt the result of efforts made by the Tec’s entire community of students, graduates, professors, and collaborators. We shall strive to continue encouraging entrepreneurship through initiatives and projects with ever-greater impact. Despite the challenges we now face, we renew this commitment today in order to generate value for our country," said David Garza Salazar, Rector and Executive President of Tecnológico de Monterrey.
Rob Franek, The Princeton Review, Editor-in-Chief, commented: "We congratulate Tecnológico de Monterrey for its impressive #5 ranking on our 2021 list of Top 50 Undergraduate Schools for Entrepreneurship Studies. The school has risen dramatically on our lists over the years, moving up from a #23 ranking on our list for 2016, the first year we reviewed it for this project. From our earliest assessments, however, Tecnológico de Monterrey's commitment to entrepreneurship education greatly impressed our editors."
At Tecnológico de Monterrey, the support designated for student entrepreneurship has been increased significantly in recent years. There is a high level of student participation in the most important competitions held by global organizations and institutions. On this occasion, emphasis was given to the prestigious Hult Prize, awarded by the United Nations and former US President Bill Clinton, in which the project Rutopia was awarded 1st place and one million dollars.
For more than 75 years, Tecnológico de Monterrey has instilled an entrepreneurial spirit, and one of its biggest initiatives in the area of entrepreneurship is INCmty, an annual festival to inspire, connect, and provide tools to innovative entrepreneurs from Mexico and Latin America so that they can develop disruptive ideas and businesses.
