Starbucks (SBUX) Gains As Market Dips: What You Should Know

Starbucks (SBUX) closed at $68.71 in the latest trading session, marking a +1.36% move from the prior day. This change outpaced the S&P 500's 0.16% loss on the day. Meanwhile, the Dow lost 0.12%, and the Nasdaq, a tech-heavy index, lost 0.33%.

Prior to today's trading, shares of the coffee chain had lost 4.29% over the past month. This has was narrower than the Retail-Wholesale sector's loss of 5.75% and the S&P 500's loss of 10.5% in that time.

SBUX will be looking to display strength as it nears its next earnings release. In that report, analysts expect SBUX to post earnings of $0.45 per share. This would mark a year-over-year decline of 25%. Meanwhile, our latest consensus estimate is calling for revenue of $6.15 billion, down 2.49% from the prior-year quarter.

Looking at the full year, our Zacks Consensus Estimates suggest analysts are expecting earnings of $2.48 per share and revenue of $26.16 billion. These totals would mark changes of -12.37% and -1.31%, respectively, from last year.
