Spire: Fiscal 3Q Earnings Snapshot

ST LOUIS (AP) _ Spire Inc. (SR) on Tuesday reported a fiscal third-quarter loss of $4.6 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the St. Louis-based company said it had a loss of 9 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 7 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 10 cents per share.

The natural gas distributor posted revenue of $321.3 million in the period.

Spire shares have climbed 16% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 19% in the last 12 months.
