Article updated on 17/01/22: After it was revealed that Machine Gun Kelly worked with Sophia Webster fiancé Megan Fox's engagement ring, the British jewellery designer has now shared details of the design process.

Speaking to People, Webster said of the pear-cut two-stone ring: 'We were approached by Colson [Baker] to create a very special ring that had true connections to both Megan and himself.

'During the creative process, Colson had mentioned that Megan's both stone is emerald which he wanted to incorporate in some way along with a diamond, his birthstone.'

As for specific details, the designer confirmed the diamond is a D-colour antique cut and the emerald is an untreated Columbian gem.

Webster also revealed the design comprises of two rings made in 18 karat white gold, with colourless diamond pavé bands which 'perfectly' coordinate with the pear gem design.

The designer continued, noting: 'By the use of magnets buried within the gold, [the rings] are attracted to each other and sit together perfectly on the finger.

'[It's] a detail that is both modern and quite extraordinary.'

Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly have been dating since 2020, and since meeting on the set of their crime film Midnight in the Switchgrass they've certainly enjoyed a whirlwind romance.

And during the course of their relationship the 31-year-old American rapper (whose real name is Colson Baker) has clearly come to learn Fox's style preferences, if the engagement ring with which he proposed is anything to go by.

Announcing their engagement on Wednesday on Instagram, the pair gave fans a close-up glimpse of the one-of-kind design the rapper chose for the 35-year-old actor. And, from the looks of the ring, Kelly put a lot of thought and detail into creating it.

The ring in question, designed by Kelly with the help of British designer Sophia Webster, comprises of a pear-cut diamond (his birth stone) and an emerald (Fox's birth stone), and is set with talon prongs perched on a split-shank knife-edge setting.

The two separate stones that makes up Fox's ring, complete with micro pavé diamonds, are estimated to be worth five carats each, according to the owner of Ultimate Diamond, Bill Kung.

And the ring itself is said to be approximately worth anywhere from £146,000 ($200,000) to £255,000 ($350,000).

Accompanying the video clip showing off Fox's ring is a heartwarming caption that reads: 'Yes, in this life and every life.'

Kelly continued: 'Beneath the same branches we fell in love under, I brought her back to ask her to marry me. I know tradition is one ring, but i designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love.'

The rapper signed off the message with a date, seemingly referring to the time at which he proposed to the mum-of-three: January 11, 2022.

Fox echoed her fiancé's message when sharing a clip on her own Instagram of the moment Kelly proposed, said to have taken place at Spa Botánico at the Ritz-Carlton Dorado Beach during the couple's stay in Puerto Rico, per the Daily Mail.

In the caption accompanying the video, which sees her looking elated and shocked as Kelly gets down on one knee, the Jennifer's Body star wrote: 'In July of 2020 we sat under this banyan tree. We asked for magic. We were oblivious to the pain we would face together in such a short, frenetic period of time.

'Unaware of the work and sacrifices the relationship would require from us but intoxicated off of the love. And the karma.

'Somehow a year and a half later, having walked through hell together, and having laughed more than I ever imagined possible, he asked me to marry him.

'And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes.'

She finished off the sentimental note with an off-kilter remark: '…and then we drank each other’s blood'.

Fox's two-stone engagement ring has been popular as of late. Emily Ratajkowski's pear and princess-cut diamond engagement ring from husband Sebastian Bear-McClard also mirrors this style.

Three-stone rings are also having a moment, thanks to the likes of Meghan Markle. In fact, earlier this month Design Bundles found that the Duchess of Sussex's gold-banded ring from Prince Harry, culminating in a cushion-cut central diamond, received the most Google searches each month in 2021 - as much as 20,000.

Fox and Kelly, who have matching tattoos spelling out 'the darkest fairytale', that they both inked on each other, previously opened up about their relationship in October of last year.

Fox, who was formerly married to actor Brian Austin Green for 11 years, with whom she shares her three children, Noah, nine, Bodhi, seven and Journey, five, told GQ: 'It was obvious from second one what it was going to be, but we didn’t hook up right away.’

She also said: '...meeting him, it’s like meeting your own soul’s reflection. I recognise so much of myself in him'.

Fox also described their relationship as 'tense', and Kelly, who welcomed daughter Cassie in 2008 with ex partner Emma Cannon when he was a teenager, also revealed his take on their romance.

He explained: ‘It’s ecstasy and agony for sure... I don’t want people to think anything’s perfect with us. I didn’t say it was the darkest fairy tale for no reason.

'There’s also the demonic side.'
