Singapore malls, Alibaba threaten Amazon
It had a slippery debut with late deliveries.
According to Bloomberg, as Amazon.com Inc. forays into Southeast Asia with a new venture into Singapore, the online retailer is facing some tough hurdles. Shopping in air-conditioned malls is practically a national sport, and e-commerce rivals moved in long ago.
In July, delivery delays ruined Amazon's debut as it tried to implement on-the-ground two-hour deliveries through its Prime Now service. The company lags web store Lazada and parent group Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.
