Singapore amongst busiest international flight routes

Travel between Jakarta and Singapore alone hit 3.5m passengers.

Travel between Asian airports dominated world rankings of the busiest international flight routes last year, led by Hong Kong-Taipei with 5.1 million passengers, according to the International Air Transport Association.

Jakarta-Singapore route came in next with 3.5million passengers. Other routes to Singapore which made the list are Kuala Lumpur-SIngapore and Hong Kong-Singapore at 2.8m passengers each; and Bangkok-SIngapore at 2.5m passengers.

An increase in budget carriers and economic growth in Asia have made air travel affordable to more people. Traffic between London’s two airfields and Dublin was the only combination outside Asia to make it to the top 10.
