Singapore’s 25 largest accounting firms

KPMG managing partner Thamsai Choy

KPMG secured the top post with 2400 accounting professionals.

Singapore Business Review presents the 25 largest accounting firms in the city which is by no means a list of best accounting firms based on size.

Ranking by size is simply based on the number of professional accountants retained by each firm and is an objective standard for gauging a firm’s competence. As for many cases, the number of employees varies from time to time as companies in perfect competition try to maximize profits.

A firm which has grown in size implies that it has matured and has survived the fleet in tight competition, not only in attracting clients but also in retaining talents. It means that the organization has divided itself into departments, where professional accountants nothing else but their specific areas of expertise. It thus means that accountants can command high rates and compete for clients by mere reputation.

Methodology:
To rank the accounting firms, we primarily acquired a list of the accounting firms- local and foreign- that are based in Singapore from Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority. We then started to get contact persons from their office and discussed with them the purpose and requirements to be part of the list.

After all the information was collated, we ranked the firms based on the number of professional accountants each firm retained.
