Here’s a simple — and funny — hack to cover that annoying hole in your wall

Hole in the wall
Hole in the wall

We’ve all been there: Right before we return our rented apartments to our landlords, we do a thorough check of the area, only to find an unexplainable hole in the wall that will most likely cost us our security deposits.

Well, luckily, one TikTok user has shared an easy (and hilarious) trick to cover that gaping hole.

On Oct. 18, a user with the handle olyviaj94 posted a clip of herself rubbing a “cheap” bar of soap against the wall, covering what was once a visible hole.

“When you realllly need that security deposit back,” the user, who claims she lives in a “terrible apartment” in her profile, captioned the video.

The TikTok has since gone viral, receiving over 3.6 million views and more than 1,000 comments. Some users even offered solutions of their own.

“Why not buy spackle and just do the actual job?” one person questioned. “Be like … $3.”

“Toothpaste works better,” another simply wrote.

When a third user reiterated that spackle — a putty that is used to cover holes — and soap cost about the same, olyviaj94 had a blunt response.

“But petty lasts forever,” she wrote.

So, there you have it. If you’re feeling cheap and spiteful, head to your nearest dollar store and get that bar of soap to fix that eyesore on your wall. You might not won’t regret it.
