Sime Darby Property Thanks The Frontliners

Sime Darby Property Thanks The Frontliners

Sime Darby Property appreciates the sacrifices and services given by all frontliners, be it our medical personnel who work around the clock, the uniformed brothers and sisters keeping the streets safe, the delivery boys feeding us when we’re hungry, the supermarket attendants who keep the shelves stocked, the hospital cleaning services or the local council services still collecting rubbish from households. We want to say a big thank you to them, and you can too.

Sime Darby Property is organising the #BERSAMA movement and invites all Malaysians to send their letters, poems, pictures or hand-drawn notes saying thank you to all our frontliners.

You can post your messages on the Terima Kasih wall on Sime Darby Property’s co-creation platform (dtoideas.com) from now until April 14. Through the 14-day #BERSAMA movement, we will highlight 14 different professions and industries of frontliners and aim to gather 5,000 of these special notes, which will then be distributed to the unsung heroes.

Sime Darby Property Acting Group Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Wan Hashimi Albakri Wan Ahmad Amin Jaffri said the #BERSAMA campaign was one way for the company to recognise the sacrifices of those who have been working tirelessly for the nation.

“There’s a tremendous fight to keep the nation safe from this deadly virus and countless people are risking their lives, standing in the face of this virus, to keep the rest of us safe. Although many of us can’t stand in battle with them, what we can do is to provide for those on duty, those who need financial help and daily necessities. I feel that one other thing we should also do is show gratitude. Not everyone is as brave or willing to put their lives on the line and these people do it day in and day out.

“So, here’s my message of thanks to all our unsung heroes. To my fellow Malaysians join the #BERSAMA Movement and share your message of appreciation with us.”

According to Sime Darby Property Chief Marketing & Sales Officer Gerard Yuen, this movement was inspired by Sime Darby Property’s employees who have been working from home and wanted to do more to show their appreciation to the frontliners by spreading courage, positivity and hope.

“From idea to launch, it only took the team 5 days to make it happen. They really wanted to make a difference and went for it wholeheartedly. Everyone can make a difference, no matter how small or big the act, as long as you want to.”

As a responsible corporate player, Sime Darby Property and its foundation, Yayasan Sime Darby (YSD) have rolled out various initiatives to assist the frontliners and community at large. We collectively allocated more than RM5.3mil to COVID-19 related humanitarian efforts to date.

Of that sum, RM4mil was contributed to the GLC and GLIC Disaster Response Network (GDRN) to provide streamlined support for medical supplies, personal protective equipment and ventilators to hospitals, district health clinics and frontliners with the support of the Ministry of Health and Pharmaniaga Berhad.

In line with our aim to build sustainable communities, Sime Darby Property has allocated RM150,000 to our Community Outreach Fund to provide essential items and groceries among others to the B40 communities within our townships who are affected by the Movement Control Order. A further RM250,000 has been donated to the COVID-19 Fund under the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).

Sime Darby Property has supported generations of sustainable communities through its township developments and aims to continue playing an active role throughout this outbreak.

#BERSAMA, we can protect one another and fight to end this pandemic.
