SINGAPORE, Jul 1, 2022 (China Knowledge) – The late week of June saw Europe’s biggest steel industry exhibition known as ‘Wire and Tube’ in Düsseldorf, Germany held from 20 - 24 June. This year the show has brought in CITIC Pacific Special Steel (000708), the only Chinese steel company participated together with many big names in the wire rod, steel tube from Europe, Turkey, India and other countries.

The Tube is the world's leading exhibition for the pipe industry and thus the most important showcase for companies in the manufacturing, processing and using of pipes. Other associated product groups included raw materials, pipes and fittings, machinery for pipe manufacturing, process technology tools, measuring, testing and related equipment. In addition, the trade also featured pipes made of various materials turned up to be a major part of the show. As a professional tradeshow it has attracted international experts, specialists, innovators and the world’s market leader in the industry that showcased cutting-edge and innovative technologies ranging from pipe production to pipe accessories. The Tube is regarded as trailblazer for a booming industry and provides experts with the answers to the challenges of the future.

This is the 35th year that the Wire and Tube exhibition had been held. This time, more than 1,700 exhibitors from the cable, wire and tube industry from all over the world gathered to bring the latest products, technologies and solutions in the industry to promote global trade cooperation. With the theme on green transformation of the steel industry, well-known companies in the industry such as Salzgitter AG, ThyssenKrupp, ArcelorMittal, Klöckner, Swiss Steel Group, SMS Group, Stahlrohre, Benteler were present at the event to bring cutting-edge solutions from their perspectives.

Many of these well-known industry players align with current trend on sustainability and green transformation have presented creative and avant-garde solutions. As the global steel industry in general has the target to reduce emissions of around 30% by 2030 the trade show covers all industrial sectors – from suppliers to users. In recent years there have been technological transformation underway in the steel industry. A major positive development is the direct reduction in carbon emission and improvement in production efficiency. Direct reduction based on hydrogen will replace the conventional production method as a clean production process – and experts agree with this. Steel production based on carbon will lose its place at the top.

During the China’s "14th Five-Year Plan" period (2021-2025), green and low-carbon development has also become the core of the transformation and development of China's steel industry. Reducing CITIC Pacific Special Steel’s carbon footprint is one of its most important goals, and it is widely involved in developing technologies to make low-carbon steel a paramount goal. The company is proactively increasing its self-generated electricity from its discharge and waste during manufacturing, and it has achieved over 50% reliance on such sources. In the future, it will also explore new materials, advanced technologies and upgraded processes to reduce the total energy consumption and usage. In terms of logistic it is introducing green concepts in managing transportation and operation on its entire supply chain.

Both CITIC Pacific Special Steel's technology and deployed equipment are world’s leading in the fields of special steels manufacturing. It has six core product groups namely the alloy steel bar, special steel plate, special seamless steel pipe, forging products, alloy steel wire rods, alloy steel round billets. These are also associated with quenched and tempered material, silver bright material, auto parts and other complex processing.

Its products meet the international standards and meet the demand from the energy, transportation, construction, machine manufacturing, aerospace and other industries. The products sell very well in China and are exported to more than 61 countries and regions such as the U.S., Japan, Europe and Southeast Asia.
