West Ham travel to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon

(ES Composite)

West Ham will be wary of a potential banana skin this afternoon as they visit the Premier League’s bottom side Sheffield United.

A better-than-expected start to the season in the face of a tough fixture list has heightened expectations in east London.

Meanwhile, the Blades have picked up just one point from a possible 24 but will be aware of the Hammers’ weak points after hard work during the international break.

Date, time and venue

Sheffield United vs West Ham is scheduled for a 2pm GMT kick-off today (Sunday, November 22, 2020).

The match will be held behind closed doors at Bramall Lane.

How to watch

TV channel: Today’s match will be televised on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League, with coverage from 1pm.

Team news

Sheffield United could be boosted by the return of Lys Mousset and John Fleck.

Striker Mousset and midfielder Fleck have both resumed full training and are in contention to play a part in the game today. Mousset has yet to feature at all this campaign after suffering a tendon injury in a pre-season friendly, while Fleck has been out with a back problem since the beginning of October.

Injury meant Enda Stevens did not travel to meet up with the Republic of Ireland squad and the defender is another player who will be given the opportunity to prove his fitness, along with Rhian Brewster and John Egan after both players left their respective international teams early.

Sheffield United provisional squad: Ramsdale, Foderingham, Baldock, Stevens, Egan, Basham, Lowe, Robinson, Bogle, Jagielka, Ampadu, Lundstram, Flack, Norwood, Berge, Osborn, McBurnie, Sharp, McGoldrick, Burke, Brewster, Mousset.

West Ham boss David Moyes hopes Michail Antonio will be fit for selection.

The 30-year-old has missed the Hammers' last two games with a hamstring problem. He has been recovering during the international break and is back in training ahead of the trip to Bramall Lane.

Angelo Ogbonna is also working his way back from injury after he was forced off against Fulham with a knock two weeks ago.

Provisional West Ham squad: Fabianski, Balbuena, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Coufal, Masuaku, Rice, Soucek, Bowen, Benrahma, Haller, Randolph, Fredericks, Diop, Snodgrass, Lanzini, Fornals, Yarmolenko, Antonio.

Prediction: Sheffield United 0-2 West Ham

Sheffield United already looked doomed after going eight games without a win, while West Ham are doing far better than most predicted after a tough schedule.

The Hammers should win at Bramall Lane.
