Shaw Centre getting major makeover

By Romesh Navaratnarajah: Shaw Centre along Orchard Road will undergo a major revamp, its first facelift since 1975 when it was built.

Mark Shaw, Executive Vice President of Operations, Shaw Organisation, said: "This transformation will bring Shaw Centre in line with consumers' expectations of a modern shopping mall and create a fresh new buzz to Singapore's famous Orchard Road shopping belt."

The new Shaw Centre will be integrated seamlessly with the adjoining Shaw House and will be rebranded to include local and international fashion brands, flagship and concept stores and comprehensive facilities. Meanwhile, a new 1,000 sq m Urban Plaza will be built over the public concourse formerly located at Shaw House. The space will be used for red carpet events and product launches.

The property will also get a new facade and basement food court, while a covered walkway will enhance the convenience of shoppers and commuters.
