SGX Orb Awards 2022 highlights value of collaboration in Asian financial markets

The theme of this year's SGX Orb Awards: collaboration

Singapore Exchange (SGX Group) on July 13 launched the fifth edition of its annual SGX Orb Awards to recognise excellence in financial journalism and content.

For this year’s special category, content producers are invited to share their stories on how collaboration, partnerships and an ecosystem mindset is driving success in Asian markets and shaping Singapore’s role as an international financial centre.

World financial markets are rapidly evolving as new and emerging technology brings both disruption and opportunity across multiple asset classes. Market participants are increasingly finding value in working together – often with the new entrants – to build scale, expand their global reach and raise their service offering.

With that, SGX’s special category – an award category with a different theme every year – is “collaborate to compete”.

This somewhat mirrors the theme at the recent 51st St Gallen Symposium – collaborative advantage - held on May 4 and 5 in St Gallen, Switzerland, of which SGX is a partner of. SGX plays an important role in financing the symposium, as well as in advising the students and ensuring the initiative’s continuity.

The Edge Singapore’s participation in this year’s St Gallen Symposium was sponsored by SGX.

While the St Gallen Symposium has recognised the importance of collaborating, so has SGX, as it looks to find original and published work on the topic of collaborative advantage. The work submitted under this special category should highlight how the businesses work together with competitors or other parties to build scale.

Apart from this special category, the main stay awards include Story of the Year, The Hidden Gem, The Visual Treat and GoTo.com.

Launched in 2018, the SGX Orb Awards welcomes published work from the print and broadcast media, online news sites backed by publishing or editorial companies, as well as independent writers such as bloggers or investment websites.

Each year, the awards attract submissions from local and international content producers that include written pieces, audio-visual work and illustrations.

Judging will be conducted by a distinguished independent panel and members of the public can nominate and vote for their preferred entries among shortlisted contenders. The winners in each of the five categories will be unveiled in October 2022.

The Edge Singapore has consistently participated in the SGX Orb Award. In the last SGX Orb Award in 2021, The Edge Singapore won three awards under the Story of the Year, The Hidden Gem and Special Category categories.
