On Tuesday, November 30, Selena Gomez opened up in an Instagram video about how she maintains her mental health. Gomez recently launched Wondermind, a content platform for women struggling with mental health issues to congregate, have conversations, and pick up tips on how to maintain their equilibrium. Gomez offered some tips of her own, admitting there are certain days which are harder than others.

In the clip, she's responding to the question, 'How do you take care of your mind?'

To that, she said, 'Sometimes I'm not good at it, like I'll just wake up and I struggle maybe sometimes just getting out of bed.'

She went on to share the little things she does to get past this feeling and begin her day.

'What helps me, first and foremost, is just picking up the phone and calling someone,' Gomez began, before going on to say it's important to investigate and learn about what helps you.

'I constantly try to fill myself with knowledge of what it is that I am feeling and the triggers that happen to me,' she said. 'So I think what really helps me understand myself a bit more is that I can take a step back and think of all the tools I've learned and try to implement them in my everyday life. That's usually what helps me.'

Gomez also says she works out, even when she doesn't want to, exclaiming, 'I hate working out! It is not fun, but I've been doing intense boxing classes recently, and it has really helped me get a lot of frustration but also just energy out and it feels so good.'

The pop singer has been talking openly about her mental health over the last year, explaining in an Instagram Live in 2020 with Miley Cyrus that she is bipolar. When launching Wondermind, she said in the promotional video that it's been a lot of work to take that diagnosis and turn it into effective treatment.

Gomez said, 'I understand what it's like to be confused and not really understand what are these feelings and emotions coming from... I live with bipolar—I don't suffer from it anymore. I'm really happy and proud of the progress I have made.'
