Yahoo Finance Russell T Davies replacing Chris Chibnall as Doctor Who show-runner
Russell T Davies will be returning to Doctor Who as show-runner, to celebrate the show's 60th anniversary in 2023 and beyond.
Davies - who revived the series in 2005 - will take over from Broadchurch's Chris Chibnall when he leaves the show next year.
"I'm beyond excited to be back on my favourite show," Davies said in a statement. The series will mark its 60th anniversary in 2023.

Davies, who created the critically-acclaimed It's a Sin this year and is also revered for hit dramas Years and Years, A Very English Scandal and Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood, will be responsible for casting Jodie Whittaker's replacement as the Time Lord.
The actress will be stepping down from the role after one more six-part series and three 2022 specials.
"There's a whole series of Jodie Whittaker's brilliant Doctor for me to enjoy, with my friend and hero Chris Chibnall at the helm," Davies added. "I'm still a viewer for now."
Chibnall described Davies' reappointment as show-runner for the show's 6oth anniversary as "monumentally exciting and fitting".
"Russell built the baton that is about to be handed back to him," the writer and producer said. "Doctor Who, the BBC, the screen industry in Wales, and let's be honest everyone in the whole world, have so many reasons to be very excited indeed about what lies ahead."
Davies ran Doctor Who when Christopher Eccleston was cast as the Doctor, and remained in charge during David Tennant's reign.
Doctor Who will return to the BBC later this year.
