Rural Muslims produce kids for entertainment: Ajmal

A video of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal is making waves on social media.

In an interview with a Hindi website, Ajmal can be seen saying that poor Muslims in rural India produce more children because they do not have any other means of entertainment.

"The problem of population explosion among poor Muslims would not go away till the time they are poor. They don't have any means to entertain themselves. They don't have television. Most of them don't even have homes and fans. In such a scenario what would poor couples do except produce children," he laments.

He adds: "The reproduction rate among urban Muslims who are more educated and financially empowered is markedly less. This is how it is. The solution is to proffer education and employment opportunities for rural Muslims."

AIUDF is an Assam-based, right wing Muslim political party which is contesting state polls in alliance with the Congress.
