Congratulations! You’ve scored yourself that interview that you’ve been waiting for. Here are some things you should check this email invitation for, and some tips on how to reply this email!

  1. Be prompt. This gives them a good impression of you.

  2. Remember to thank them for the invitation.

  3. Click “Reply All”, so that everyone is kept in the loop.

  4. Check the email invitation for any missing information, and request for this information. (refer to the handy checklist below!)

  5. Tell them your preferred timeslot for the interview. If there are more than one, state them in order of your preference. If none of the timeslots work for you, state clearly what is a good timing, and ask them if it is convenient for them at that slot.

  6. Last but not least, proofread! Check through for any mistakes especially for important details such as – the name of your recipient, your contact details, timing details, as well any grammatical errors.

Information Checklist

The interview invitation should contain the following information:

  • Job interview Address (sometimes, this may be different from where the job is actually located)

  • Interview Type: Face-to-face, Skype or Phone Interview

  • Name and job title of the person (or people) interviewing you

  • Alternative date and time options (for you to choose the one which fits your schedule best)

If the email is missing some of this information, do request for this in your reply.

 

Sample Email

Hi Margaret,

Pleasure to hear from you! Thank you for the invitation to interview for the Marketing Consultant position, I really appreciate the opportunity. Looking forward to meeting yourself and the team.

Based on the dates you mentioned, my availability is as follows: Any time before 12:00PM on 8th August, and throughout the day till 5:00 PM on 12th August.

A few questions about the meeting: 1) May I know who I’ll be meeting with, and how much time I’ll have with each person or if it’ll be a group interview? 2) How much time do you anticipate the interview to take?
