The upgrade of Singapore’s Robertson Quay is set to be completed later this year with RB Capital confirming the signing of the promenade’s final restaurant tenant, Three Buns concepts by Potato Head Family. Following a bidding war for the final space, Potato Head Family, the pioneers behind international hospitality concepts such as Potato Head Bali, will join the likes of Super Loco, Summerlong and Wolfgang Steakhouse, among others, in the Quayside line-up.

In 2013, Singapore’s real estate business RB Capital acquired Quayside for $450 million. Local architect partners SCDA, the team behind New York’s Soori High Line development, was enlisted. The five-year plan to elevate Singapore River’s Quayside will be completed this year, as RB Capital sets its sights on future projects.

The new waterfront façade was designed to pay tribute to the quay’s trading history of the past century. Local F&B companies Super Loco, Summerlong and Decker Barbecue were among the first to secure their plots and open in front of a new 225-room InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay, formerly known as The Gallery Hotel.

Recent launches at the Quayside include ground-floor Italian neighbourhood bar Marcello, adjacent to Publico Ristorante, which offers contemporary Italian dining. In March 2018, Plum and Toro, a Japanese dining concept by Chef Hideki Ii, was opened. They join New York’s Wolfgang’s Steakhouse to complete the F&B on level two of the new InterContinental hotel. Members club 1880 also opened for business in December, occupying all of the hotel’s third floor with its iconic Timothy Oulton design.

Quayside remains one of the most significant urban restoration projects in Singapore of recent years and adds to RB Capital’s existing portfolio of hospitality and retail ventures, which include the Park Hotel Group, Cuppage Terrace, and Farrer Square Medical Suites.

RB Capital currently has its sights set on new neighbourhood opportunities, and plans to draw inspiration from urban rehabilitation projects such as Shoreditch London and Dumbo Brooklyn, to apply progressive and creative future plans to additional Singapore neighbourhoods.
