Predictions on the best Marks & Spencer Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals for 2019

What does Black Friday 2019 have in store for Marks & Spencer? We predict the best deals to expect this November - PA
What does Black Friday 2019 have in store for Marks & Spencer? We predict the best deals to expect this November - PA

As we prepare for Black Friday 2019, what are the potential deals and discounts on offer from high street giant Marks & Spencer? We did some digging to find out what could be in store...

Earlier this year, Marks & Spencer suffered a setback in sales - which retail boss Steve Row claimed was due to the "combination of reducing consumer confidence, mild weather, Black Friday, and widespread discounting by our competitors [that] made November a very challenging trading period."

Given the setbacks from last year, can we anticipate some more competitive sales from Marks & Spencer this Black Friday, on November 29?

The company is remaining tight-lipped over what could be in store. "We aim to give our customers great trusted value throughout the whole Christmas season, not just over the Black Friday weekend," says Nathan Ansell, M&S's Clothing & Home Marketing Director.

Yet no matter how many times Marks & Spencer insists it doesn't do Black Friday (in 2017 they claimed they wouldn't be "buying into the retail bonanza"), there are still some serious deals to be found at the store during the November sales period.

Given their inventory, the retailer won't be battling to serve the best Black Friday tech deals. Instead, we predict offers on some of their iconic stock - from cashmere jumpers to beauty products and bed linen.

How to find the best Marks & Spencer Black Friday deals

Get your basket ready

When sales go live, you want to make your purchases as quickly as possible. To help with this, make a wish list and Bookmark your favourite items now; then, in late November, you'll be able to add the items to your basket and check out as soon as the sales go live. M&S regularly offer deals on clothes, wine and homeware, so be sure to browse before you buy.

Stock up on wine

In the past, Marks & Spencer has offered up to 50 per cent off selected wines and champagnes. This year, we predict there will be savings to be made on wine and bubbly, as the retailer is already reducing the prices of select cases of Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as offering special discounts on Prosecco and Champagne.

Indulge in beauty

The retailer stocks a range of beauty products, and it's no stranger to a discount; currently, there is a deal where you can get £15 off when you spend £70 or more on beauty items. The store is also known for its free gift sets (buy one product and get a couple of extras thrown in), so there's potential for bundle deals - ideal if you're thinking about Christmas presents.

Consider home improvements

There have been savings of up to 20 per cent across furniture at Marks & Spencer during previous Black Friday sales. This year, we predict reductions on furniture again - especially considering the current deal, where you can save 10 per cent when you spend over £300 on furniture, save 20 per cent when you spend over £600 or 30 per cent if you spend over £1,500.

Think seasonal

There's often a huge push for Christmas sales from retailers in November - because this is when the organised among us buy our gifts. With this in mind, Marks & Spencer have been known to offer Christmas hampers at 20 per cent off ahead of the festive season - and, this year, other seasonal staples could see similar reductions. The online Christmas shop already has a curation of over 350 present ideas at under £20.

Going to checkout

It can be worth shopping for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals using a Sparks card. Not only will the company's free loyalty card make a donation to your chosen charity every time you shop, but loyal members get impressive perks. For instance, shoppers with 3,000 Sparks points get fast-track access to the latest products, and those with 5,000 points get early access to Marks & Spencer's sales before the rest of the public.

Remember that you qualify for free shipping when you spend over £50 on clothes, home, hampers and beauty products but flowers, plants, furniture, and selected food and wine gifts qualify automatically. Add a few household necessities to your basket to make the most of hassle-free delivery.
