Pratt & Whitney Commences Manufacturing in Singapore

Pratt & Whitney a part of United Technologies Corp. UTX recently announced the opening of an 180,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Singapore, through its subsidiary P&W NGPF Manufacturing Company Singapore Pte Ltd.

The new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, which is Pratt & Whitney’s first in Singapore, is expected to produce innovative hybrid metallic fan blades and turbine rotating components for the company's new PurePower Geared Turbofan (GTF) engine family. The new facility is another major step in the company's strategy of creating and modernizing its manufacturing infrastructure with over $1 billion of investments globally. The increase in demand of these engines is likely to augment revenues.

The new facility meets the LEED Gold standards and Singapore's Green Mark building scheme with the use of renewable resources such as solar energy. Located in Seletar Aerospace Park, the facility further enhances Pratt & Whitney's presence in Singapore

Pratt & Whitney is among the world’s leading suppliers of aircraft engines for the commercial, military, business jet and general aviation markets. Pratt & Whitney’s Global Services segment provides maintenance, repair and overhaul services, including the sale of spare parts, as well as fleet management for large commercial engines.

Based in Hartford, CT, United Technologies, the parent firm of Pratt & Whitney, provides high-end technology products and services to the building systems and aerospace industries worldwide. The company serves various end markets such as aerospace, defense and commercial construction. The business diversification allows United Technologies to remain profitable amid a challenging macroeconomic environment.
