Yahoo Finance 'I don't want to pay for a racist': Piers Morgan urges Meghan to name royal who 'had concerns' about baby's skin
Piers Morgan has said Meghan Markle should name the Royal Family member who made remarks about the colour of her baby's skin because he doesn't "want to pay for a racist".
Morgan, who left his presenter role at Good Morning Britain over comments he made about Prince Harry and Meghan's interview with Oprah Winfrey, has pushed for more information from the couple about some of their claims.
One of those was that Harry and another member of the Royal Family had discussed the colour of the baby's skin, with Meghan claiming those conversations indicated he would not be a prince because of it.
Asked by Winfrey whether there were concerns that her child would be “too brown” and that would be a problem, Meghan said: “If that is the assumption you are making, that is a pretty safe one.”
Speaking to Billy Bush on Extra TV, Morgan said: "Meghan made a number of large grenades she lobbed over the palace walls, the ones about racism were two-fold.
"One that her son Archie was prevented from being called a prince because of his skin colour – that is a lie, he would not have been a prince whatever the skin colour of himself or his mother because, under a 100-year–old statute in the Royal Family, unless you are the grandchild of a reigning monarch, you are not a prince or princess.
"The other half was that she said while she was pregnant there were several conversations between a member of the Royal Family and Prince Harry in which they talked about the potential skin colour of the baby.
"She hasn't named who that is, so everybody is in the frame except the Queen and Prince Philip who they magnanimously removed from the frame.
"When Prince Harry was asked the same thing, his recollection of the timing was very different. He said it was one conversation right at the start of their relationship, so we are talking two years before. So when was this conversation, was it when he said it was or when she said there were multiple conversations several years later?
"And what was the tone because it really matters. If it was just curiosity, if it was said innocently, and out of curiosity that is not racism."
He added of the wedding and baby announcement: "I cannot tell you how euphoric the British public was about a biracial woman marrying into an exclusively white family.
"The idea of a young boy arriving or girl who may be Black, was fantastic for the Royal Family and for Britain, a very multicultural country."
Morgan continued: "What is the context, was it said in a sneering, derogatory manner, was there a problem about the skin colour of this child in the eyes of this royal if there were, if that was how it was done I want to know who that royal is because I'm paying for them as a British taxpayer and I don't want to pay for a racist.
"At the moment everyone is smeared by this allegation."

Saying he had known other royals for a long time, including Prince Charles, Prince William and Diana, he said he did not believe there was a racist bone in any of their bodies.
He said: "If Harry thinks there is, then he should who it was and tell us the context, then we can go to the person who is accused and get their version of events."
Prince Harry and Meghan now live in California where they have turned their focus post-interview to their foundation, Archewell, and their production work through Archewell Audio and Archewell Productions.
But Harry is due to return to the UK in the summer for the unveiling of the statue of Diana – scheduled for 1 July, which would have been her 60th birthday.
Morgan said: "I can't see how they can stand next to each other after what's happened, William and Harry."
He called it a "complete betrayal" for details of the conversation between the brothers to have been revealed by Gayle King, who is a friend of Meghan's.
Morgan revealed earlier in the week that he had received messages of gratitude on behalf of members of the Royal Family.

He said: "I’m not going to go into who it was. But what I would say is, gratitude that somebody was standing up."
There has been speculation about when Meghan and Harry might return to the UK to visit, as plans to do so in 2020 were scuppered by the coronavirus pandemic.
While they may have intended to return in 2021 for events like Trooping the Colour, there's doubt over that because of Meghan's pregnancy, and the smaller scale of the event in light of ongoing restrictions.
Victoria Ward, from the Telegraph, answering a question from a reader about the statue unveiling, wrote: "I’ve been told that it is an absolute 'priority' for Prince Harry and that, as long as coronavirus travel restrictions allow, he will return to the UK to stand shoulder to shoulder with his brother at the event.
"Meghan, though, will not attend. It is unlikely she would have been there even if the couple had remained in the UK. This is a personal project commissioned and executed by the princes, for their mother."
Meghan will likely have just given birth to their second child, who they have said is due in the summer. They are expecting a girl.
