Peabody Energy: 1Q Earnings Snapshot

ST LOUIS (AP) _ Peabody Energy Corp. (BTU) on Wednesday reported a first-quarter loss of $129.7 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The St. Louis-based company said it had a loss of $1.33 per share. Losses, adjusted for restructuring costs and non-recurring costs, came to $1.23 per share.

The coal mining company posted revenue of $846.2 million in the period.

The company's shares closed at $2.98. A year ago, they were trading at $29.40.
