Paris is most popular destination for first-time travelers

When it comes to breaking into the world of travel, Europe holds the biggest appeal, according to a new survey of first-time travel.

In a Booking.com poll that asked 15,000 travelers to name the destination that became their first travel experience, nine of the top 10 spots were in Europe, with Paris leading the way.

The survey was conducted in January across 20 markets worldwide.

Here are the top 10 most popular first-time travel destinations:

2. Barcelona, Spain
3. London, UK
4. Vienna, Austria
5. Malaga, Spain
6. Venice, Italy
7. Rome, Italy
8. Sydney, Australia
9. Zurich, Switzerland
10. Berlin, Germany
