VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) _ Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS) on Wednesday reported a first-quarter loss of $77.2 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said it had a loss of 37 cents. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 4 cents per share.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 12 cents per share.
The silver mining company posted revenue of $358.4 million in the period.
Pan American Silver shares have dropped 9% since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed 80% in the last 12 months.
