OSI: Fiscal 1Q Earnings Snapshot

HAWTHORNE, Calif. (AP) _ OSI Systems Inc. (OSIS) on Thursday reported fiscal first-quarter profit of $9.4 million.

The Hawthorne, California-based company said it had net income of 50 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 81 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 59 cents per share.

The airport security and full-body scanner manufacturer posted revenue of $266.2 million in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $246.9 million.

OSI expects full-year earnings in the range of $3.85 to $4.05 per share, with revenue in the range of $1.14 billion to $1.18 billion.

OSI shares have climbed 6.5 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $68.58, a drop of 25 percent in the last 12 months.
