Oil States International: 1Q Earnings Snapshot

HOUSTON (AP) _ Oil States International Inc. (OIS) on Wednesday reported a loss of $405 million in its first quarter.

The Houston-based company said it had a loss of $6.79 per share. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 14 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 21 cents per share.

The energy services company posted revenue of $219.7 million in the period, missing Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $226.3 million.

In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, the company's shares hit $3.32. A year ago, they were trading at $20.30.
