RESTON, Va. (AP) _ NVR Inc. (NVR) on Thursday reported third-quarter earnings of $195.8 million.

On a per-share basis, the Reston, Virginia-based company said it had net income of $48.28.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $47.64 per share.

The homebuilder posted revenue of $1.81 billion in the period.

NVR shares have decreased 36 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has decreased 22 percent in the last 12 months.
