SINGAPORE – NTUC FairPrice is extending its ongoing Pioneer Generation (PG), Merdeka Generation (MG) and Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) Blue discount schemes for a further 12 months, from 1 January to 31 December 2023.

"Amidst the uncertain economic climate, FairPrice is committed to ensuring that our customers are able to have access to household essentials and the extension of the discount schemes looks to help alleviate some financial burden on daily essentials," said Vipul Chawla, Group CEO, FairPrice Group, in a statement on Tuesday (27 Dec).

FairPrice has provided special discounts on daily essentials such as eggs and rice, to help moderate the rising cost of living in Singapore.

This year, the supermarket chain gave out over S$11.5 million in savings through the PG, MG, Seniors and CHAS Blue discount schemes.

Beyond the discount schemes, FairPrice will also offer a 1 per cent discount to offset the increase in Goods and Services Tax (GST) for 500 essential items for six months from 1 January 2023.

These 500 essential items are products frequently purchased by customers, which comprise housebrand and national brand products including fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, staples, dairy, paper products, detergents and household cleaners.

Eligible costumers would need to present their membership cards (PG, MG or CHAS Blue Card) upon checking out their purchases to be able to use all benefits offered. At self-checkout counters, customers would also need to select the relevant PG, MG or CHAS Blue card discount option.

These discounts are valid for up to S$200 per transaction per day.
