KUALA LUMPUR: The second line of the mass rapid transit (MRT) will pass by Lembah Pantai, Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said yesterday.
Announcing this at a ceremony in Pantai Dalam, the minister said this is still unofficial, yet to be approved by the National Economic Council.
The Lembah Pantai aspirant candidate in the upcoming general election said MRT Corp Sdn Bhd will build three stations in the area, namely in Pantai Halt, Taman Bukit Angkasa and Abdullah Hukum.
“I have fought so that MRT Line 2 and 3 would come into Lembah Pantai. Maybe it is the residents’ good fortune that I am a minister, because before this, Lembah Pantai was not part of the original route.
“This is not official and yet to be approved by the National Economic Council... The prime minister is probably busy with election (preparations), so they may make the announcement after the elections,” he said.
Speaking to reporters after officiating the ground-breaking ceremony of the Al-Khadijah Mosque, Raja Nong Chik said MRT Corp has agreed to his request for Line 2 to pass Lembah Pantai.
