NewsBreak: Trump Says He's Looking Into Banning Non-Tobacco Vaping Products

Investing.com – President Donald Trump said Wednesday he was looking into banning all non-tobacco flavored vaping products from the market. He made the comment to reporters at the White House.

The concern stems from rising instances of breathing problems experienced by otherwise healthy users of e-cigarettes that they use for vaping. At least six have died, and more than 450 cases have been recorded across the country this summer.

The health issues appear related to the presence of THC oil in vaping products smoked in the Juul e-cigarette. THC is the compound in marijuana that creates a high. Privately held Juul's cigarette normally packages nicotine salts from leaf tobacco into one-time use cartridges.

The Food and Drug Administration is finalizing plans to pull all flavored e-cigarette cartridges from the market, leaving only the tobacco flavor, in an effort to discourage youth vaping. Altria Group (NYSE:MO) fell 1%, while Philip Morris International (NYSE:PM) lost 0.4%.
