NEW YORK (AP) _ News Corp. (NWSA) on Thursday reported fiscal third-quarter net income of $10 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The New York-based company said it had profit of 2 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 4 cents per share.

The publishing company whose flagship is The Wall Street Journal posted revenue of $2.46 billion in the period.

News Corp. shares have climbed almost 1% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen 15%. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $11.43, a decrease of 31% in the last 12 months.
