SINGAPORE – More than 70 per cent of Build-to-Order (BTO) flats in the new Bidadari estate have been delivered, said the Housing and Development Board (HDB) on Sunday (21 May).

Over 6,400 flats in the new Bidadari estate have been completed, with the remaining 2,454 flats on-track to be completed by 2025.

First unveiled as a new housing area in 2013, Bidadari was "envisioned to be 'A Community in a Garden' where residents can live and connect with family and friends amidst a tranquil garden-like environment". It comprises four districts – Alkaff, Bartley Heights, Park Edge and Woodleigh – with a total of 12 BTO developments.

HDB added that Woodleigh District with 2.685 flats, including 312 rental units across three BTO development – Woodleigh Glen, Woodleigh Hillside and Woodleigh Village – were the first to be completed in the Bidadari estate.

The construction of all three projects started before 2020 and was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. All three projects have been completed between September 2022 and March 2023.

The Woodleigh District is the first to be fully completed. It comprises 2,685 flats, including 312 rental units, across three BTO developments. "The construction of all three projects started before 2020 and was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. All three projects have been completed between September 2022 and March 2023," said HDB. "As of 30 April 2023, more than 90 per cent of the flat buyers in Woodleigh District have collected the keys to their new homes."

HDB's target of 20,000 new flats in 2023

HDB added that the next district in Bidadari to be completed will be the Alkaff District, which is the largest district in Bidadari, with more than 4,000 units.

"Four out of five projects in the district have been completed thus far, and residents have moved into their new flats," HDB said.

The remaining project, Alkaff Breeze, is on track for completion by mid-2024, while four more projects in the Bartley Heights and Park Edge Districts expected to be progressively completed by mid-2025.

Overall, HDB aims to complete 20,000 new flats in 2023.

In a Facebook post after a visit to the Bidadari estate, Minister for National Development Desmond Lee said, "We will continue to launch more BTO flats across various towns to provide affordable and accessible homes for Singaporeans. For the upcoming May BTO sales exercise, four of the five projects have waiting times of under four years."
