Mondelez: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

DEERFIELD, Ill. (AP) _ Mondelez International Inc. (MDLZ) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter profit of $726 million.

The Deerfield, Illinois-based company said it had net income of 50 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 61 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 60 cents per share.

The maker of Oreo cookies, Cadbury chocolate and Trident gum posted revenue of $6.91 billion in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $6.84 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $3.87 billion, or $2.65 per share. Revenue was reported as $25.87 billion.

Mondelez shares have decreased nearly 1% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has climbed slightly more than 1%. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $54.56, a rise of 26% in the last 12 months.
