McDonald's (MCD) Outpaces Stock Market Gains: What You Should Know

McDonald's (MCD) closed the most recent trading day at $182.80, moving +1.7% from the previous trading session. This move outpaced the S&P 500's daily gain of 1.47%. Elsewhere, the Dow gained 2.32%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq added 1.2%.

Heading into today, shares of the world's biggest hamburger chain had lost 4.76% over the past month, lagging the Retail-Wholesale sector's gain of 4.81% and the S&P 500's gain of 0.74% in that time.

Investors will be hoping for strength from MCD as it approaches its next earnings release. The company is expected to report EPS of $0.75, down 63.41% from the prior-year quarter. Our most recent consensus estimate is calling for quarterly revenue of $3.65 billion, down 31.67% from the year-ago period.
