Maya Jama just hopped on the glossy pigtail trend and I’m obsessed

From Cosmopolitan

We called it: 2020 is the year of the pigtail. Particularly glossy, luxe pigtails.

The look has been fronted primarily by Ariana Grande, who's been sporting an ombre, high-pigtail masterpiece for a while now (she's now opting for a beehive, which is a dissertation subject in itself, and we simply do not have time to get into that here.)

It's worth mentioned that Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner both followed suit shortly after (and Khloe received some kiiiinda unnecessary 'feedback' about her resemblance to Ari).

Maya Jama is the latest to climb aboard the good ship pigtail, posting a picture to instagram last night with her hair split into two incredible glossy high bunches as she promoted her latest Cling Cling merch release.

But this look is no ordinary pigtail look - if you want to recreate the Official Pigtail Look of 2020, there are a few checkpoints you'll need to meet.

They include: a side-parting lining up with the arch of the brow, sweeping a glossy section across the forehead for serious Bratz doll vibes. Elastics also must be hidden with wrapped hair sections, and the ends of the hair must form cute little curls at the end of the pigtail lengths. Bonus points for extra-as-hell hair pieces.

It comes after an absolutely badass grid post about her 2020 Halloween costume - she dressed up as a high-gloss cat, complete with a stunning high ponytail - and pulled it off incredibly.

Last year she dressed as an evil mermaid, and with actual Halloween on the horizon this weekend, I'm waiting with baited breath to see what her next move will be.

Absolute fire.
