Here’s how you can maximise your $100 SingapoRediscovers Vouchers

Gwyneth Yeo
·5-min read

All adult Singapore citizens (18 years and above) will be receiving $100 in tourism credits from December 2020. Coined the SingapoRediscovers Vouchers, these credits complement the $45 million SingapoRediscovers marketing campaign to boost local tourism and can be used on staycations, attractions and local tours.

The digital credits will be in $10 denominations – accessible through their Singpass accounts – and will be valid from December 2020 to July 2021. At the same time, SingapoRediscovers voucher users will also be able to purchase up to 6 subsidised tickets for children under the age of 18, at a $10 discount.

That is a whopping $160 in savings per adult! And good news for cash strapped parents with a brood of restless children and teens.

While further details will not be out until November, there’s certainly no harm in planning your next holiday staycation around these credits, since – let’s be honest – overseas holiday trips are definitely not happening in the foreseeable future.

(Unfortunately the credits are not available to PRs, but we hear there will be subsidises available. Keep your ears peeled to the news in November.)

Tips for maximising your SingapoRediscovers vouchers on your staycation

If you travel annually with a regular group of friends and family, you can splurge on one big fancy “holiday”. Just pool your credits together and book one of the larger rooms in the hotel of your choice. (Do take note of the safe distancing and room capacity limits though.)

Some hotels offer standalone villas with a few bedrooms and private pools. With your usual holiday garb, the smell of sunblock lotion, and impeccable room service, you and your pals could be well on your way to feeling like you are back in Bali (or wherever you want to be).

Or if you prefer to have multiple experiences, you can spread out your spend over a few staycations, and stay at more budget friendly backpacker style hotels and experience different sides of Singapore at each one.

Planning to be a tourist?

If staycations are not your thing, (y’know, because your bed is the best?) here are some of the STB approved attractions that you can visit. You can get the full list here.

There’s a good variety of experiences to be had from this list, so you can be sure you will be able to utilise your credits easily and cater to the different needs and wants of your family. You should also note that the vouchers can be spread out over 3 school holiday periods: December 2020, March 2021 and June 2021. So there is no need for you to rush to finish using everything within the first week.

Besides, it might be better for crowd control if you space out your visits to these attractions.

Tips for maximising your SingapoRediscovers vouchers on attractions

You know the best wish you can get from a genie granting you a wish? Wishing that you can get more wishes!

The idea is the same with your SingapoRediscovers vouchers. Wherever possible, purchase an annual pass for the whole family to your favourite attractions, so you can keep going back again and again and again… You get the idea. Whenever you need a place to entertain your kids, you’ll know exactly where to go and your wallet will keep on thanking you for it.

There are a number of popular attractions that offer such passes, including the four parks under the Wildlife Reserves Singapore (Singapore Zoo, River Safari, Night Safari, Bird Park), Future World at Marina Bay Sands, the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum, National Gallery (for all paid exhibitions, and if you missed the free promotion that ends on 31 October), Singapore Science Centre, and Gardens by the Bay.

FYI, RWS has suspended the sale and renewal of the annual passes for its attractions (like S.E.A. Aquarium and Universal Studios Sentosa) until further notice. I know. Sad.
