Macy's (M) Stock Sinks As Market Gains: What You Should Know

In the latest trading session, Macy's (M) closed at $17.07, marking a -0.47% move from the previous day. This move lagged the S&P 500's daily gain of 0.11%. At the same time, the Dow lost 0.09%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq gained 0.2%.

Coming into today, shares of the department store operator had gained 6.39% in the past month. In that same time, the Retail-Wholesale sector gained 2.91%, while the S&P 500 gained 3.25%.

M will be looking to display strength as it nears its next earnings release, which is expected to be February 25, 2020. On that day, M is projected to report earnings of $1.93 per share, which would represent a year-over-year decline of 29.3%.
